Flying Jeffrey's PL-2 in formation with Leo's PL-1B
I built PL-1B model as a little boy. I was reintroduced to Pazmany's when Jeffrey and Leo brought their pair of PL's.

In 2010, Jeffrey graciously allowed me to fly his PL-2 in formation with Leo/Jimbo for the Newport Beach Mid-Autumn Festival. That planted the seed for me to get my own PL.

When I first saw N45WR, I thought it won't be too hard to turn it into ...

... THIS. Unknown to me at the time, Taiwan CAF & Army never painted their PL-1B in white; both CAF & Army PL-1B's were in silver gray only.

I picked up N45WR from seller's hangar at the Lake Havasu Airport around Nov. 2010.

I was very surprised that it is IFR equipped with an IFR approach GPS.

In anticipation of our 10-10 formation flight, I went to as many formation clinics as possible. In May 2011, I made an off field landing while attending a clinic and damaged both main gears.

Student pilot friends Roy & Denny helped me to remove old decal strips before painting it in Taiwan Army livery. Here was Leo coming to supervise my work ...

Here was Larry applying the first two color coats. Thank you, Larry ...

... I did the clear coat the next day, then put it all back together.

Leo felt responsible for getting me into my Pazmany, so he provided all decals on N45WR as a gift. Thank you, Leo!

On Oct. 8, 2011, I lost my father to cancer at around 5:00 a.m. After rushing from UCLA Medical Center to the airport, we completed our 4-ship flight over the 10-10 100 ceremony at Barns Park, Monterey Park. After landing, Christina and Scott came to the airport for some pictures.

The following year on Oct. 7, Christina and I, with Leo flying on my wing, did a memorial flight over Pacific Ocean just outside of Palos Verdes where I scattered my father's ashes.
